Travis County Transportation and Natural Resources Department is seeking to hire one intern to work within the Environmental Quality Program. The intern will provide assistance to program staff in one or more of the following areas: natural resource protection, air/water quality, and solid waste management/recycling. Depending on qualifications of the selected candidate, activities may include some or all of the following:
Compose templates for up-coming grant applications and awards
Perform site visits and collect data in the field using devices such as a GPS or digital camera, possibly in difficult/rugged terrain
Analyze current data to quantify illegal dumping and presence of waste on public lands;
Office tasks to support activities of division staff such as mailing distributions, large copy projects and review of draft documents;
Setup and support for presentations, training events, and public meetings;
Operation of a county vehicle for applicable assignments
Salary, Time Commitment and Work Location:
The salary will be $13.58/hr. and the intern will work from approximately 20 up to a maximum of 40 hours per week starting in May and continuing through September, with exact dates and days and times to be determined up to a maximum of 481 total hours, with work on weekdays (M-F). The primary work location will be in downtown Austin at 700 Lavaca Street suite 500. Travis County does not provide parking for interns.
