Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society
Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society for adult students offers a total of $2,000 in academic achievement scholarships to students 24 years of age or older who had a minimum of 18 graded credit hours at St. Edward's University before the start of the Fall 2013 semester, along with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.
The amount of each award will be determined by the scholarship committee, based on the number and merit of the applicants. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. Awards are intended for use in the Spring 2014 semester.
Applications for the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society Scholarship should be availabe in early November 2013.
Brown Scholarship
Scholarship consideration is limited to students currently enrolled in New College who have at least a 3.0 St. Edward’s cumulative grade point average and who have earned a minimum of 33 St. Edward’s University graded hours. In addition, applicants must have completed at least 6 credit hours by the end of the Fall 2013 semester and be registered for at least 6 credit hours for the Spring 2014 semester.
Award consideration is based upon past commitment to community service, academic excellence, and a community service project proposal for one of the following periods of time:
- Fall Semester 2014
- Spring Semester 2015
- 2014-2015 Academic Year
The monetary amount of the Brown award is dependent upon the scope, depth, and length of the time of the community service proposal.

New College Merit Scholarship
Scholarship consideration is limited to students currently enrolled in New College who have at least a 3.5 St. Edward’s cumulative grade point average and who have earned a minimum of 18 St. Edward’s University graded hours by the application deadline, April 16.
A link to an online application will appear in the "Scholarships" section of eligible students' EdWeb accounts. Students who will have completed 18 hours at the end of the Spring term will not meet eligibility requirements to apply.
Applications will be evaluated by a committee composed of New College faculty.
Awards will be for the following school year. Students must plan to enroll for those semesters to receive the scholarship funds.
Currently eligible New College students can apply for the Academic Merit Scholarship up until April 1, 2013 through the Scholarship link located in their university EdWeb account.
Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Baccalaureate Scholarship
The Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Greater Austin has established a scholarship program to support the ideals of Phi Beta Kappa, “Love of wisdom, the guide of life.” The awards are for the purpose of furthering the recipients’ undergraduate education.
Eligibility
Continuing students are eligible if they:
1. have earned more than 30 credits
2. are at least 24 years old
3. are pursuing an academic program that includes liberal arts and sciences
4. are enrolled at Concordia University, Huston-Tillotson College, St. Edward’s University, or the University of Texas at Austin.
Amount
These scholarships of $2,500 are dedicated to recognizing and assisting students who have already demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level.
Applications for the 2014-2015 Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Baccalaureate Scholarship should be available in early Spring 2014.

Students can also search for additional off-campus scholarship using many of the free online scholarship search engines. These sites specialize in assembling and maintaining large databases of scholarships opportunities offered by various companies, organizations, service groups, etc. Students can typically focus their search using criteria such as age, major, talent, gender, ethnicity, academic merit, financial need, etc.
Remember, legitimate organizations will never charge you a fee to search or apply for a scholarship.
