Welcome to Student Disability Services
In keeping with Holy Cross tradition of St. Edward's University, Student Disability Services (SDS) fosters an inclusive campus community by providing equal access to students with disabilities. We promote equal opportunity through accommodation, consultation and collaboration with faculty, staff and students. SDS honors the uniqueness of every person through individualized relationships that build self-advocacy skills, self-understanding and academic success.
SDS assists any student with:
- Medical disabilities, such as diabetes, asthma, migraines, mobility or vision impairments
- Learning disabilities, such as a reading disorder, math disorder, ADHD
- Psychiatric disabilities, such as depression, anxiety, Asperger's Syndrome
- Academic accommodations
- Study skills (specific to an individual's disability)
- Referral services
- Self-advocacy skills
Please note: A student who has a temporary illness (e.g. cold or flu), or is recovering from surgery not based on a long-term condition would not be considered to have a disability.
All requests for academic accommodation should be made directly to Student Disability Services. Notice to other campus partners (e.g. Admissions, Orientation Staff, Health and Counseling Center, Faculty) is not considered notice to the Institution.
