History of Teresa Hall
Teresa Hall was constructed in 1968 as the second residence hall to house the female students of Maryhill College of St. Edward's University. It was named in memory of Mother Teresa McGivney, superior general of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters who established Maryhill College in Austin in 1966; but the name was selected also in consideration of St. Teresa of Avila, patron saint to the IHM sisters, and of Mother Theresa Maxis, a founder of the IHM community. In 2012, Teresa Hall underwent major renovations to the interior of the building to create a modern residence hall atmosphere for residents. Today the hall serves as one of St. Edward's University's legacy halls along with East Hall.
Teresa Hall Staff
Clint Carrens - Residence Director (front center)
Hello everyone! My name is Clint Carrens and this is my fifth year as a member of the Residence Life team. I am so excited to be working again in Teresa Hall! I know this will be an amazing year and look forward to getting to know all the wonderful residents of T-House!
A little about me: I am originally from Port Neches, TX, but have lived in Austin since 2000. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 with a BS in Communication Studies, I entered the field of state government but was very active in developing student leaders on a volunteer basis. After a few years I decided to make working with college students a career and entered the College Student Development masters program at Saint Edward’s. I graduated in 2011 and was blessed to join the Saint Edward’s Office of Residence Life staff in 2012.
Outside of Residence Life, I am very active in volunteering. I also enjoy exercising, watching football and basketball, enjoying a good movie at the Alamo Drafthouse, and experiencing all this great city has to offer with friends and family.
Brandon Paz - Resident Assistant (far left)
Hey, I’m Brandon Paz from Houston, Texas. I am a Sophomore Resident Assistant at Teresa Hall and one of two RAs for the Active Living LLC! Coming to St. Edward’s was without a doubt one of the best decisions that I have made so far in my life, and now I hope to spread my love for this school to my residents. A few facts about me: I love rap/hip hop and my favorite artist is Kendrick Lamar; football is everything to me (Go Texans!); and my favorite way to kill time or relieve stress is by working out. Don’t hesitate to stop me and say hi if you see me on the Hilltop!
Sydney Mitchell - Resident Assistant (2nd from left)
My name is Sydney Mitchell, I am from Akron, Ohio. I attended a Holy Cross High School, Archbishop Hoban, hence why I am all the way in Austin, Texas! I am a biochemistry major, pre-med track in hopes of becoming a Neonatologist - pediatrics consisting of medical care for newborn infants. As a first year Resident Assistant, I hope to be a mentor and "big sister" to my residents, allowing them to feel comfortable coming to me with their problems, questions or seeking advice. I look forward to this year both academically and socially, I can't wait to see what the Hilltop has in store for me! Toppers UP!!
Mckenzie Blaser Lerch - Resident Assistant (2nd from right)
Hello everyone! My name is Mckenzie Blaser and I will be going into my second year here at St. Edward's! My major is Global Studies with an international business track and focus region of Europe. I born and raised in Portland, Oregon but I love the weather, culture, and opportunities that Austin has to offer. I am one of the RA’s for the Active Living LLC and I absolutely love being active and in the outdoors. Some of my favorite hobbies are traveling, camping, backpacking, swimming, reading and cooking. Can’t wait for a great year on the Hilltop!
Meghan Granger - Resident Assistant (far right)
Hi y’all! My name is Meghan and this is my 3rd year as a Hilltopper and my 2nd year in T-House. I’m a Junior Psychology major and I chose to live in Teresa for another year because Teresa truly is the most spirited hall on campus. I love reading, trying new things, and hanging out with my friends. I am very social so feel free to stop by any time! I look forward to meeting all of you and to having another great year!
