Living Learning Communities
Welcome to St. Edward's, incoming freshmen! Apply now for a Living Learning Community--a great way to link your on campus life with you in-the-classroom experience and the world around you. It's easy to sign up with our online housing application, opening February 2nd!
When you arrive at St. Edward's University, you're going to be challenged to think critically and creatively about the world around you. Don't you want your living experience to match your academic journey?
That's where Living Learning Communities (LLCs) come in. In LLCs, students choose their housing based on a common theme or interest, and throughout the year, they explore the topic and deepen their knowledge of the subject.
We are expanding our options, so many more students can take advantage of the LLC program!
For the 2015-2016 academic year, incoming freshmen can choose from six LLCs, including:
- Active Living
- Honors (for students accepted into the University Honors program only)
- Natural Sciences
- Social Justice
Each LLC lives together on the same floor or area of a residence hall. Students in the community take one or two courses together and participate in dinners, discussions, special events and service activities.
As a member of a living learning community, you'll develop strong friendships with fellow LLC members. And, you'll have the opportunity to really get to know your professor(s), and other university partners. Without a doubt, you'll leave your LLC with a strong network, ready to make your mark at St. Edward's.
How To Apply
When you complete your housing sign-up, you'll have the opportunity to apply for a Living Learning Community. Space is limited, so apply for housing as soon as possible.
The Living Learning Community application is embedded in the online housing application, which opens for freshmen on February 2nd. The final deadline for LLC applications is May 2nd--but some communities may fill earlier.
