Health Professions Track

Many students at St. Edward's are preparing for careers in the Health Professions which include Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Veterinary Medicine to name a few. This preparation is rigorous and at times confusing, so it is in the student's best interest to become acquainted with the Health Professions Advisory Committee early in his/her college career.

Committee Chairs Dr. Mary Kopecki-Fjetland Assoc. Prof. Biology
  Dr. Henry Altmiller Prof. Chemistry
Committee Members Dr. Fildelma O'Leary Assoc. Prof. Biology
Dr. Neal Wise Prof. Political Science
Dr. Mary Kopecki Assoc. Prof. Chemistry

St. Edward's does not have a "Pre-Med" major per se, and the Medical and Dental Schools say that it does not matter what the student's major is. However, once you complete the pre-requisites for Med/Dent school, you are well on your way to completing the degree requirements for a BS in Biology or Biochemistry.
