Courtney Wissinger

Courtney joins the St. Edwards Faculty after performing, choreographing and teaching in New York City for 10 years. As an Equity actress, Courtney performed in regional and touring productions including A Chorus Line, As You Like it and West Side Story among others and she performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at Carnegie Hall. As a director and choreographer Courtney has staged off-Broadway plays, as well as assistant choreographing and performing in new musicals and creating commissioned dance works. While in New York, she was on the faculty at Peridance Capezio Center in lower Manhattan for 7 years where she taught and choreographed for the pre-professional performance ensemble and professional level adult classes. She also served on the jazz and contemporary dance faculty at the Harkness Dance Center at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. Courtney is a 200 hour certified Iyengar based yoga instructor. Courtney taught, directed and choreographed for Tony award winning McCarter Theatre's Education department in Princeton. She developed curriculum, directed school productions and created musical theatre, dance and cultural education programs in many underserved New York City public schools.

Courtney holds a B.F.A. in theatre performance from the University of Texas and performed in several productions at Zach Scott Theatre Center as well as singing with rock and blues bands here in Austin and in New York City. Currently, Courtney serves as the Director/Choreographer of the Omni Singers at St. Edward's University.
