The first in-depth exhibition exploring the singular culture of Texas high school football opened at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Austin, in July 2011. Bill Kennedy, Professor of Photocommunications, is showcasing his photographs of stadiums, coaches, and mascots as part of the exhibit. On August 3, Kennedy spoke publicly about his ongoing project High School Football: Community Portraits, as well as the Museum's partnership with him and his Photcommunications students, at the High Noon Talks held at the Bob Bullock Museum. He shared his insights into capturing the essence of Texas high school football and the culture that surrounds it. A selection of his photographs are on display in the rotating exhibition space from July 30 through August 31.
There will be a Photocommunications student exhibition, Focus on Fridays, that will run at the Bob Bullock Museum from Sept. 23 through Oct. 5.
In December, a PHCO alumni, Jeff Wilson, will also display photographs from his Texas Monthly and University of Texas Press book Home Field.
