Where to get an immunization

You can get the meningococcal immunization at most doctor's offices and private clinics and some minor emergency centers or walk-in clinics. Call in advance to see whether they offer the immunization, require an appointment, and take your insurance.

If you are uninsured or underinsured and cannot pay for the shot on your own, the state health departments and clinics are offering the meningitis vaccine for free to college students. Supplies of the immunization may be limited, be certain to call ahead to schedule an appointment and verify the clinic has the immunization.
