Licensure Practice Tests

All St. Edward’s teacher certification candidates are required to successfully complete the appropriate practice test (ExCET/TExES) before receiving authorization to register for any of the certification tests listed below.

Successful completion is defined as scoring 80% or better on the appropriate practice test. There is no cost to the student to take the practice test. Students may attempt the test as often as necessary to achieve success but must wait a minimum of one week between test attempts. Students who have not successfully completed the appropriate practice test(s) will not receive the authorization required for ExCET/TExES registration eligibility. Students must also successfully complete the appropriate practice test(s) to receive credit for student-teaching internships.

To prepare for the ExCET/TExES practice test, carefully read the ExCET/TExES Registration Bulletin and the appropriate ExCET/TExES Preparation Manual or Study Guide in their entirety. Answer the sample ExCET/TExES test questions provided in the ExCET/TExES Preparation Manuals or Study Guides.
