Dear Students,

As wildfires continue to burn in Texas, we know that some of you and your families may be directly or indirectly impacted. It can be stressful during these difficult times. You are in our thoughts and prayers. If you need assistance, don't hesitate to ask for help. On campus, we have the following resources available:

  • Campus Ministry Mang House:  448-8499
  • Dean of Students Office Main Building, Room 108:  448-8408
  • Health & Counseling Center Johnson Hall, ground floor:  448-8538
  • Residence Life Central Office: Community Building 1:  448-8419
  • Residence Directors in your halls/apartments

Students impacted by the wildfires who need to notify the university of their situation should contact the Dean of Students Office at 512-448-8408.

In response to the fires in the Central Texas area, we would like to respond as a community to assist our neighbors. At this time, we are gathering donations of:

  • Bottled water
  • Canned meats (pop/pull lids)
  • Peanut butter
  • Granola bars

Please donate by dropping off items at Mang House. Cash and Topper Tender donations will also be accepted.

The Office of Service and Community Involvement is exploring ways to directly serve the Bastrop area in the near future. Some additional resources to volunteer and donate include, Catholic Charities of Central Texas (www.ccctx.org) and American Red Cross of Central Texas (www.centex.redcross.org).

We will continue to update the university community as more information is available. This will be a long term effort and many opportunities will be available as the fires are contained and communities begin to rebuild. Thank you in advance for your support. For information or questions regarding service to the community, contact Lou Serna at 512-448-8537 or luiss@stedwards.edu.
