Updating Virus Definitions

Note: new installations do not automatically update your virus definitions.

Installation Instructions

1. You must first determine if your version of Microsoft Windows is 32 bit or 64 bit. You can do this by
   • Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
   • Under System, you can view the system type. 
2. Download the version of Symantec Endpoint that corresponds to your system type and run the installer.
3. Click on Next.
   
4. You must accept the license agreement and click on Next.
   
5. Leave the radio button set to Unmanaged client and click on Next.
   
6.  Leave the radio button set to typical and click on Next.
   
7. Click on the Install button to begin the installation on your PC.
   
8. If your computer is currently connected to the internet, wait for Symantec Live Update to update your virus definitions.
   
9. Click on Restart now to complete your antivirus installation.
   

Updating Your Virus Definitions for Symantec Endpoint:

1. Double-click on the Symantec Endpoint Protection icon on the taskbar in the lower right corner of your screen.
    
2. Click on the LiveUpdate button to update your virus definitions.
