Updating Virus Definitions

Note: new installations do not automatically update your virus definitions.

Installation Instructions

1. You will need to download the installation from the Software Downloads Page.  You will need to log in using your St. Edward's University login.  Right-click on the download link and select Save Link As and save it to a location such as the Desktop.
   
    
2. Close all running applications on the dock and double-click on the Mac_Symantec .dmg installer.
    
3. Double-click on the Symantec AntiVirus Installer icon
   
    
4. When the following prompt appaers, click continue.
   
    
5. Click on for the Introduction, Read Me, and License screens.  You must accept the license agreement to continue.
    
6. You must select your primary hard drive volume to install to and click on Continue.
   
    
7. Click on the  button and continue at the following prompt.
   
    
8. After the installation tells you that it has completed, click on the  button.
    

Updating AntiVirus Definitions and Scheduling Regular Updates

1.  Click on the new Norton QuickMenu in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Go go LiveUpdate > Open LiveUpdate.
    
2. On the LiveUpdate menu, click on Symantec Scheduler.

5. Set the Frequency to weekly and choose an update day of the week.
    
6. Set a time that your computer will likely be on and connected to the Internet for an automatic update, such as the evening and click save.
