Setting Up E-mail on a Kindle

Verify your Kindle is connected wirelessly and registered.

Using the Default Kindle Fire Mail App

  1. Tap Apps from the Home screen on your Kindle Fire
  2. Tap the Email app icon to open the built-in e-mail client on your Kindle Fire.
  3. Tap the start button
  4. Tab Other
  5. Then enter your SEU email address and password
  6. Under type of accounts select IMAP
  7. On the Incomming Server Settings you should have the following:
  • Username: SEU login name
  • Password: SEU Password
  • IMAP Server: mail.stedwards.edu
  • Security Type: TLS (if available)
  • Authenication Type: Plain
  • Port: 143
  1. Tap on Next
  2. On the Outgoing Server Setting you should have the following:
  • SMTP Server: smtp.stedwards.edu
  • Security Type: TLS (if available)
  • Port: 587
  • Check Next to Require sign-in
  • Authnication Type:  select Login
  • Username: SEU login name
  • Password: SEU password
  1. Tab Next
  2. Set how often you want the kindle device to check your emails.
  3. Tab Next
  4. Enter the name you want to display when sending out emails and you can give the email account a name.
  5. Option: Place a check next to “Send mail from this account by default”
  6. Tab View your inbox

How to view other folders beside the inbox

Within the email App tab the Menu icon at the bottom of the screen, then Folders to view additional folders within your e-mail account.

Using the TouchDown App to Sync Email, Calendar, Task and Contacts

*Note: You must purchase the TouchDown with Exchange Active Sync from the Kindle Apps store.

  1. Verify your Kindle is connected wirelessly and registered.
  2. Tap Apps from the Home screen on your Kindle Fire
  3. Search for TouchDown email App
  4. Download the app
  5. Open the app
  6. Tap I Agree on the license Agreement
  7. Tap I Accept again to accept the end user license agreement
  8. Tap Configure Your Account
  9. On the Configure Your Account enter your seu email address and password then tap on Next

*Note:The Try AutoDiscovery does not support our email server

  1. On the Connection Details screen you should have the following:
  • User ID: SEU login name
  • Domain: (optioal) stedwards.edu
  • Email address: SEU email address
  • Password: SEU password
  • Server: mail.stedwards.edu
  1. Tap Next
  2. Use SSL Select Yes, then tap Next
  3. On the Protocals to check for, check the check box next to ActiveSync, then tap Next
  4. Tap Next to start configuration
  5. On the configuration procress screen you should have gotten a Success, and  tap Closed.

*Note: If connecting failed then tap on Show Results to see where it failed on connecting.
