How to Map a Network Drive on Windows

For Residence Halls: 

To access Edshare from a residence hall you will need to map a network drive. To begin connect to the network with either a wired Ethernet connection or Wifi (not the SEU - Guest signal). 

Windows XP

Windows Vista/7
 

Looking up Shared Drive Name

For a  personal drive the name will be\\edshare\yourusername. Shared drives among departments have their own names. Some users will know the name of this drive but if not you can obtain these names by:

  1. Log into Edweb
  2. In Edweb  select View My Access on the left hand side bar
  3. This will list all of the drives that you have access to. All of the drives you have access to can be mapped. The name you will need to map the drive is listed under share.

Windows XP

  1. Go to My Computer
  2. Then click on Tools
  3. Select Map Network Drive...
  4. In the Folder: text box type \\edshare\SEU Login Name.

    For shared drives type \\edshare\s_name of shared drive.

  1. Click on Finish
  2. Enter your SEU username and password when prompted.

  1. Go to Computer
  2. Click Map Network Drive (located top of the screen on the bar under the search bar).
  3. The drive selected can be any letter. (like the one below)
  4. In the Folder: text box type \\edshare\SEU Login Name.

  6. Enter your SEU username and password if prompted.
  7. You should now see the drive in Computer under Network Location.
