CARS Spooler Printers
Steps to Resolving a CARS Printing Problem
-
Check the printer itself. Make sure it is Online or Ready and no error messages appear. Turn the printer power off and then back on again.
-
In CARS go to the Utility Menu and select Printer Control.
-
Press d to Display Spooler Status.
-
Enter the CARS Spooler Printer name. This is not necessarily the same as the EdShare or Network Printer name. It will be a short, usually 4 letter name.
-
Enter the printer name and press PF1
-
Make sure the printer is not idle. If a form type is needed make sure it is loaded.
-
If the message is "Spooler is idle", you need to start the printer from the CARS Printer Control (Utilities -> [g] Printer Control) menu using menu option [h] Start Printer.
-
If a form type is needed you will need to load a form, [g] Clear Form Type. After loading or removing a form, restart the printer using menu option [h] Start Printer
-
If the job still does not print, check Display Spooler Status again. If there are other print jobs in the queue, remove them if possible. CARS Printer Control (Utilities -> [g] Printer Control) menu and then [i] to Remove Print File. You can remove print jobs by username.
-
If none of these work use [l] Reset Printer. This will reset the printer port as a last resort.
-
If the job still does not print, call the Computer Help Desk (x8443).
