Availability

Equipment Circulation hours:

Since the library information desk handles circulation of equipment, checkout and returns is dependant upon library hours. Hours are posted on the library website.

Times when equipment is not available:

During periods of extreme rain or inclement weather, there is no equipment checkout. Students cannot check out the same types of equipment over consecutive periods without the supervisor's approval. Renewals are based on availability. There are no checkouts over holiday breaks, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Equipment Loan Policy

The primary purpose of technology equipment checkout from the New Media Center is to enhance coursework, presentations and other instructional areas of the academic experience. Our goal is to have 100% availability and to provide users with fully functional ready to use equipment.

An SEU ID is needed to checkout equipment. Persons borrowing digital technology from the Library will be charged a late fee if the equipment is not returned by the specified due date and time. After the borrowing privileges have expired, this daily late fee will be charged until the equipment is returned.  Fees owed by staff members will be reported to their supervisors. Fees owed by faculty will be reported to the dean of their respective school.

Equipment return guidelines:

There is a 72 hour checkout policy. All equipment is expected to be returned by the specified due date. Any late equipment will result in a fine under the patron's name. Equipment returned with missing parts will continue to accrue rental fees until the missing items have been returned. We do not re-check out equipment over the telephone. When fees of more than $50 have accrued, a hold will be placed on the patron's Libary account, preventing the patron from checking out any Library materials, and the amount will be charged to the student's account. The same fees apply when equipment is returned with missing accessories or parts. Borrowers have the responsibility of opening the cases to demonstrate that all contents are returned. Equipment checkout is a privilege that can be taken away from students, faculty or staff returning equipment; more than one week late or damaged.
