What is the Part-Time Jobs to Internships Course?
Part-Time Jobs to Internships is a one hour, for-credit course being offered through the Career Planning & Management (CPAM) program administered by Career and Professional Development. This section of CPAM is for students that are employed part-time or have secured part-time employment by the start of this course. Through online instruction, written assignments, online discussions, an individual counseling session, and reflection, students will learn how to use their job responsibilities to further the career discernment process. Students will also learn how to market skills gained through part-time employment through a resume, LinkedIn profile and online portfolio.
Why should I complete this course?
By being employed part-time already, you are learning about the functions of work outside the classroom and developing transferable skills for your professional career. This course will help you explore career options and market the skills you are gaining in your part-time jobs to future employers. This course will also ensure you are ready to search and apply for an internship!
When does this class meet?
This class is administered online through blackboard and is instructed by Andrew Harper and Araceli Perez Ramos in Career and Professional Development. You will meet with one of the course instructors at least once througout the semester.
