Policies for Overloads
School of Management and Business students may add and drop courses via MyHilltop from the beginning of the registration period until the Add/Drop date deadline. Consequently, course enrollment numbers change on a daily basis and closed classes may develop openings before the start of the semester.
Students who have been unsuccessful in adding a required class through MyHilltop because the class reached the enrollment limit may petition the Dean of the School of Management and Business by filling out the overload form.
The School of Management and Business is firm about approving overloads and reserves this option for students with very special circumstances (e.g., graduation). Decisions are based on class space, ranking, and prerequisite demands. A request does not guarantee approval.
If you would like to fill out an overload request form for a business course (ACCT, AIT, BDMM, BUSI, ECON, ENTR, FINC, IBUS, IGMT, IGST, MGMT, and MKTG), you may use the Overload Request Form.
Requests will be processed one week before the 1st day of the semester. (Exception: Summer overloads will be processed before the end of the Spring semester.) Students will be notified via their SEU email account about the results of their requests. If your request is approved, you must register for the class requested within 24 hours, otherwise the School of Management and Business reserves the right to revoke approval in order to meet class demands. The student is responsible for registering for the course using MyHilltop and meeting the deadline.
