Global Business Institute for Societal Responsibility
Thanks to a $100,000 grant from the RGK Foundation, in 2008 the SMB launched its latest initiative, the Global Business Institute for Societal Responsibility. Each year the Institute selects a country and a global health, welfare and/or sustainability challenges within the country. The curriculum is then built around service and experiential learning projects and research projects that focus on that country and the challenge. Through the Institute, students and faculty work together to create socially responsible, implementable solutions.
Our objective is to provide real-world learning opportunities for students that reinforce the portion of our mission, which challenges us to help them “understand themselves, clarify their personal values, and recognize their responsibility to the world community.” And to provide a global educational opportunity for each of our students, not just those who can afford it.
The Mission of the Global Business Institute for Societal Responsibility is to provide implementable, measurable, and sustainable business solutions to improve the education, health, and welfare of socially, economically, and politically excluded people anywhere in the world.
