Supplemental Instruction

What is Supplemental Instruction?
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic enrichment program that targets the most difficult courses at St. Edward’s University and offers students in these courses the opportunity to meet with fellow classmates to study together in small groups. SI sessions are led by an SI leader who has previously taken and excelled in the course for which they facilitate. SI leaders are well-versed in their subject and significantly trained in hosting SI sessions.
When run effectively, the SI program produces enormous benefits for students who participate. Research has shown that students who study together learn two and a half times more information in the same amount of time as students who study alone. At St. Edward’s, statistics show that students who regularly participate in SI earn higher grades than students who do not.
How much does SI cost?
Nothing! Attending SI sessions is completely free to students enrolled in the course. Come as often as you like. Keep in mind the statistics show that the more you come, the better your grade.
