FYSM 1100 - First Year Seminar

The First Year Seminar is a one credit course to assist with the transition to college. For students with a declared major, the course provides contact with faculty, programming, and academic advisement specific to the major; for students in the Academic Exploration Program, the course provides information and advising that will help students explore their interests in a variety of degree and career options. For students with a declared major, the course provides contact with faculty, programming and academic advising specific to the major. FYSM emphasizes the development of skills necessary for success in college (e.g., academic research and critical thinking skills, time management and study skills, wellness and professional responsibility). Skills will be related to the course content of introductory-level courses.
